1914 - Hannah B
Stone plaque commemorating the founding of a building in Christchuch, NZ.
As taken by my eldest daughter; Hannah B. aged 11.
Enquiring about this, I enthused about the significance of the date, the start of WW1, the changes in world order, the birth of revolution, the death of so many young men etc etc, as my father had taught me. Her reply? ‘That’s all very interesting Dad, but why has the stone got so many colours’? ‘Haven’t a clue’ I said, ‘but you’ve captured them brilliantly, well spotted’
It’s a third/fourth generation thing I tell myself, history is a relative concept and moves on, colour is ever-present. October 2008.
